Feng Shui Tips to Help Your Career

In these unusual times when many people are losing their jobs or having severe limitations placed on their small business, I thought it might be helpful to write a few notes on general tips to support your career.  Mentally, it is also important to remember that some business sectors are booming such as online services, so it isn't all doom and gloom. Perhaps you could also use this time as an opportunity to change from the job you didn't particularly like anyhow, and set up your own consulting practice. Feng Shui energy is helpful of course, but in parallel you always need to have an awareness of trends. You would definitely want to have a strong online aspect to any new venture as this is much more resilient, at least for now when physical premises are being asked to limit footfall etc.

So, how can feng shui help? As ever, a full onsite feng shui consultation is highly advisable, but if you can't get that done with me just yet then here are some tips to help:

General Career Direction
The North section of your home is associated with career, so you need to keep this as tidy and uncluttered as possible. Have a garage there? Then make sure it is organised. Give it a good sweep, maybe even a lick of new paint (white) and make sure the lights work and the cobwebs are removed. If this is your study or living room, then make sure it is beautifully lit with a few uplighters in addition to central or spot lights. In the Northern Hemisphere the North facing room can often feel a little cool and dark, so the extra lighting will help to boost the energy here.

Front Door
So often I go to homes and businesses and discover the front door is obstructed by coats or shoes and people can't fully open it. The front door represents the mouth of the home and literally is where you bring energy into the home. Don't have the coat & shoe storage unit too close to the door either - let yourself stride into the home without anything to compress your energy. Keep the porch or hallway light on at all times to attract good positive life bringing (yang) energy, otherwise a property can become too yin (quiet and dark) and attract negative chi.

Facing of Property
Similar to the front door, the front of a home is the face and how you present yourself to the world. Is it scruffy and neglected? Is the paint peeling off? Do the bins take over the space? Or is it like you well polished? Nice shining brass door furniture and well kept seasonal pot plants? In a financial squeeze it can be tempting to 'make do and mend' but don't try to skimp on the basics of having a beautiful home - the ENERGY of your home really DOES MATTER. Even if you don't do a full refresh, just sandpaper off the peeling parts and refresh yourself with a pot of matching paint. Invest in some pretty planters (at this time of year an evergreen shrub is your best bet) and maybe some solar powered lights on stakes to stick in the ground to upllift the energy after dark.

Water Feature
A water feature could be helpful in the North of the property, but only if it is a nicely kept area - don't put it in a garage, even if it is a beautiful carpeted garage with chandeliers housing Lamborghinis! The purpose of a garage is not in harmony with the activity of career, unless you are a professional racing driver! Keep it in proportion - if you have a large mansion then you can have the 4-6ft wide Greek fountain or a modern bespoke feature, but if you have a smaller home keep it sensible - a small self-contained feature that can be powered by the mains is best as solar powered features are unreliable in how often they are activated. Keep the water clean.
If you are in an apartment have a small water feature or maybe even an aquarium.

That's it for general tips on the space. I could do a lot more with onsite compass readings and calculations etc. Now for a few closing thoughts about your mindset.

Vision and Clarity
When asked the simple question "What do you truly want?" it is amazing how few people can answer straight away with total clarity! Most people are so caught up in everyday life (ranging from survival to a state of abundance but constant obligations) so they never stip to think about where their true heart's desire lies! Take some time to journal without editing yourself or thinking too much - you might be surprised what you discover.  To benefit from the above changes to the energy of your space at the fullest, you need to be crystal clear about what you want. You can even envision it powerfully or create a vision board.

Chinese Horoscope Advice
If you are feeling a little lost and need some support, please consider having a full Chinese horoscope report 'opened' for you by me - I LOVE these charts as they reveal so much about a person (all confidential, don't worry!) and are so helpful in getting clear on your strengths and weaknesses and what your true career is... I offer either the full chart reading, or a mini version which is a Skype/Zoom call. Ideally, you know your time or birth - if not, at least the approximate time of day (morning, afternoon, evening, nighttime).

The chart will tell you what elements suit you best and are ideal for your career. Are you water, wood, fire, earth or metal? Vital to know, as these all have specific careers associated with them! No point trying to launch a new drink company if water isn't your supportive element, for example!

I hope you have enjoyed reading this - please do share and like with the buttons below as it really helps me get my work in front of others. The last 6 months haven't been easy for me either, so I would appreciate your support.

Don't forget I have a Refer A Friend scheme, which gives you a lovely gift if you refer me to someone you know who needs my help. Just contact me to learn more.

Kindest, Sarah x
